Wirral Carers were offered an early festive treat through local charity Wirral CVS in the form of a Christmas party sponsored by Progress to Excellence.

Many local carers and former carers attended the party in which there was food, drinks and activities. There was also a special festive visit from Tomorrows Women Wirral’s choir.

Karen Giner Wirral CVS Project Coordinator stated ‘The event was set up to celebrate the often hidden work of carers/ former carers within the local Wirral community, Christmas can be a very hard time for socially isolated people’.

There is estimated to be 37000 hidden carers within the Wirral community some of which provide up to 50 hours plus of care per week.

In the new year Wirral CVS will be launching a new innovative support service for local carers and former carers aiming to develop new innovative community resources to identify Wirral’s hidden carers.
